Todays eats

A leftover roast beef sandwich for breakfast with an extra slathering of Phillip's hot mustard.

Lunch. A cheese plate with cotswold and a mushroom brie, cherries, strawberries, and oven-roasted green garlic with crostini.

Dinner is vegetable soup with dark leafy greens, asparagus, carrots, more green garlic (both fresh and roasted), and potatoes. Blended. With a side salad.

Maybe a little homemade burnt caramel ice cream to finish off the night.

Sailing in Long Beach

I was able to sail outside Long Beach harbor the other weekend with my dad and I loved every minute of it. I feel so blessed that I not only grew up on a sailboat, but that I still get to ride the wind when I go home.

If you haven't been on a schooner, let alone a sailboat, you haven't yet lived. Get out and crew. There are so many sailors who need crew. Put a post on www.craigslist.org, make a flyer for your nearest harbor.

Get out and crew!

1 large iced coffee, Starbucks

Back of the bus, Honolulu

Traffic is horrible on Oahu, some of the worst I've ever been in - and I grew up in LA, live in SF, and have driven in DC (navigating which, is a logistical nightmare). I stared at the back of this bus for about 20 minutes to follow it for about 2 miles. At least it was nice to look at.

KFC Fish Snacker

Not nearly as bad as it sounds. Really, I'll defend it as a $1 food-like option.
